Happening every spring in Dallas, Purple Party Weekend has earned its reputation as the biggest circuit party in Texas—and one of the most anticipated gatherings on the national circuit calendar. But what makes this weekend truly special isn’t just the world-class DJs or the production value — It’s the fact that every beat dropped and every dance floor moment helps fund organizations that serve the Dallas LGBTQ+ community.
Purple Party Weekend is organized by the Purple Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2001. What started as a community gathering has grown into a powerhouse of fundraising, with the all-volunteer organization donating more than $2.1 million to local LGBTQ+ service providers over the years.
The foundation’s beneficiaries include organizations like AIDS Services of Dallas and Resource Center, groups whose government funding often comes with strict restrictions on how it can be spent. Purple Foundation donations have covered everything from facility upgrades to building an entirely new kitchen for one of ASD’s multifamily properties—projects that would have been nearly impossible otherwise.
Purple Party Weekend typically spans Thursday through Monday, packing roughly 11 parties into one exhilarating weekend. The weekend centers around an official host hotel—the Dallas Marriott Suites near Market Center—where pool parties and after-hours events create an immersive experience that keeps the energy flowing around the clock.
The schedule includes:
Four Main Events — The flagship nighttime parties featuring internationally renowned DJs, cutting-edge production, and thousands of attendees. Past venues have included Gilley’s Dallas and South Side Ballroom, showcasing some of the city’s most impressive spaces.
Three Pool Parties — Daytime gatherings at the host hotel where attendees can soak up the sun, cool off in the pool, or keep dancing on the merged pool deck and dance floor. If you stay at the host hotel (where the pool parties are), it makes it really easy to come and go to the party as you please. Head back up to the room to refresh, go meet a friend…it’s super easy!
Three After-Hours Parties — For those who aren’t ready for the music to stop, the party continues into the early morning hours back at the host hotel in an air-conditioned professional setup outdoors.
Tea Dance and Closing Events — Sunday brings the beloved GLOW closing party and tea dance, giving attendees one last chance to celebrate before the weekend winds down.
If you’re considering attending Purple Party Weekend, here are some key details to keep in mind:
Tickets — Various pass options are available, from VIP Everything passes that include all events plus shuttle transportation, to individual party tickets. Passes have been known to sell out, particularly for popular events, so early purchasing is encouraged.
Accommodations — The host hotel is the place to be, offering easy access to pool parties and after-hours events. Rooms typically sell out quickly when reservations open. Alternative options in the Uptown, Oak Lawn, and Downtown Dallas areas keep you close to the action.
Transportation — A shuttle system runs between the host hotel and off-site venues, included with VIP passes or available as an add-on.
What sets Purple Party Weekend apart from other circuit events is its unwavering commitment to giving back. The foundation brings together a passionate team of volunteers who work year-round to produce events that are both spectacular entertainment and meaningful philanthropy.
Whether you’re a circuit party veteran or curious newcomer, Purple Party Weekend offers something remarkable: the chance to dance with thousands of like-minded souls, experience world-class production, and know that your participation is making a real difference in people’s lives.
In a world where LGBTQ+ communities still face challenges, events like Purple Party Weekend serve as powerful reminders of what’s possible when celebration and purpose come together. It’s not just about the music or the lights or the costumes—though those are all incredible. It’s about a community that takes care of its own while throwing one hell of a party.
